Holidays!!

Finally, we are back from our 2 week break away in Queensland. It was great to catch up with family and oh my my children were AMAZING!! They didn't whinge about being in the car, and were so well behaved.

I am still amazed as to how a 2 year old and a 5 year old didn't drive me completely insane with whinging and whining on a trip that was 2 full 12 hour days each way! It was an interesting drive for us as we saw first hand the flood damage in Central New South Wales as we drove by fields which had been turned into inland lakes and encountered a few closed and damaged roads along the way. I thought I had taken a few photos of this, but for some reason cant find them...

I am so very blessed to have a beautiful partner who loves driving and during the whole trip only had to drive for an hour. I really am not a very good long distance driver as I tend to fall asleep, but lasted my short driving stint with the help of a coffee, a bottle of water and interesting stories on Triple J of people's already broken New Years' Resolutions.

On our way to Queensland, we got to stop at "the dish". I have been there before, but Mick and the kids havent so it was pretty informative, and we played with the whispering dishes as well.

Myself, Ruth and Oliver with "the dish".

Christmas was great as it was the first time that Oliver really understood the present giving and Santa thing. His excitement at all of the presents he got to unwrap really only half made up for the fact that Miss Ruth was off with her dad for Christmas Day for the first time. I missed her from the second I woke up until I went to sleep every day she was away. I always do, but thankfully I have her back with me now and I can give her as many cuddles and kisses as I want.

Oliver sure understood what presents are by the end of this massive stack!

There was also a gorgeous Christmas Lunch in my mum's true style which was DELICIOUS!! The only thing lacking was my sister's fantastic potato bake. She is very heavily pregnant and didnt want to stand in the kitchen peeling potatoes for it (might I add that this excuse was only just passable :p)

It was wonderful to sit around with my family as I hadn't seen most of them since Easter!

Me sitting waiting to unwrap Olly's presents with him... he opted to open them with Daddy instead lol!!

When we were in Queensland we saw a lot of rain... Not really the sunshine state that week!! and at one stage didn't think we were going to get home as the highway was closed in some areas due to flooding. Thankfully we were able to get home fine with a slight detour on the first day.

Oliver enjoying some ice cream with his cousins Emilia and Charlotte.

On the way home we also stopped in to spend a couple of nights in Bright with Mick's mum. I always love going to her place as the kids are free to run on her massive block and they just love following her around. Oliver in particular just loved spending time with his Granny and shafted both me and Mick on a few occasions!!

When we are in Bright, I can never resist heading into the fabric shop there. I picked up a couple of patterns and a little bit of fabric to keep me occupied until Saturday when I start with WeePantz again.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Holiday too, I hope to update with one project very soon!! Fabric is pre-washed and ready to iron and sew!

My Creative Space

Okay so it has been a long long time since I have paid any attention to my poor little neglected blog! I have, however been very very busy on school holidays with my gorgeous daughter and then went away to beautiful sunny Queensland for a week!

Ahh that was lovely and warm, and then came home to be greeted with the freezing cold Melbourne weather. Although, I have it on good authority... ok well it was the weather thing on igoogle, but still... the only authority I have, that it will warm up for the market on the weekend.

A couple of photos from our last day in Queensland...

Ruth and her cousin Charlotte who she still has been crying about missing!

Olly sitting on my sister's beautiful green grass! mind you, all grass looks amazing compared to my brown dead grass!

It was a fantastic time away, however short. We had a lovely time and it was nice to see my side of the family who all live in Brissy.

Now... on to the creative stuff!

I've been doing a few things since I have been back from QLD. I didnt set my machines back up until Monday giving myself a few days off which I spent my time playing the sims all the time!! Oh how I love that game. I wish I could just put up a wall whenever I had an extra $100 and change my body shape by going in a body shaping machine!! Ahh back to reality...

So since Monday Ive been setting myself up for making some more nappies. When I sew them, I do them in stages, so I can make roughly (children willing) 30-50 in a week, I cut one day, sew the boosters another do the snaps another blah blah, all comes together very easily when I stick to my routine!

Yesterday I did the snaps on 50 nappies... oh my how my arm is incredibly sore!!

It's quite hard taking a photo of yourself snapping!

Anyway, Ive now looked into a foot press cos they look easier! hee hee... I must say that one of the advantages of working from home, is that you can work in your trackies and your boyfriend's jumper and no-one ever has to find out! As you can see from the above picture.

The other thing I attempted this week was taking some new photos for my website. This was unsuccessful... my model wasnt very co-operative, The fact that it was around 15 degrees probably was the reason!
**note to self... turn on the heater next time!**

NOT enjoying it at all!

That's all thats happening in my creative space this week! Today is sewing day so I better get back to it, although... the child is not really willing :-( darn teeth!

Lost in Translation, some other Sewing from before Christmas

Ive been meaning to blog photos of this for a while and just never got around to it. So here we are...

For Christmas we had decided to go away to Bright which is in North East Victoria. We had also decided that with all of the stuff we had to fit into the car (golf clubs, guitars, kids toys etc) that the pram just wasnt going to fit. So I made the decision to make myself up a Mei Tai sling.

There are a bunch of tutorials online so I didnt use just one of them, but I did stick with the instructions for the man-tai very loosely when putting it together.

I used some white duck cloth... I know what you are thinking, white?!?! are you crazy?? but I didnt want A black one and white was the only neutral colour option left.

I also used some of some quilters cotton that I had laying around for the outside panel to make it pretty.

The sling is being modeled by my very talented Sister In Law Heather who loved getting to wear Olly to the pub and back. :-)

Olly really liked it too :-) He also really liked that iceblock. His first one ever... he was slightly confused by the cold at first, but because it was so hot he eventually figured out why we were giving it to him!!

and yummed it all up :-D

Okay so blogging whilst on Holiday turned out to be quite difficult! My sister and I were too busy gabbling to each other like little kids and never came up for air! Was a wonderful and warm holiday (too warm at times) and the kids and I are both glad to be home!

I have been sewing fitted night nappies for my next market and store stocking and am currently testing the design on a couple of bubs :) So off to spotlight today to buy yet more flanell as it is incredibly cheap there at the moment! I will be back later with a sneaky peek of what colours I have. So far I have only used traffic fabric and I want to get some girly colours!

I've also added to my to do list some fabric boxes to keep all my stuff in as I need more storage for nappies and also for fabric!

So until later when I have photos to make you all drool...

Whoops! Missed another day!

We have arrived in Brisbane for our holiday. Ruth and Oliver are VERY tired today as we spent the day yesterday out at lunch with my mum and sisters. We also went out late to buy our groceries and Oliver is getting a tooth meaning that he was up MOST of the night and its still not through. Hopefully we can get some rest tonight cos I am dying from exhaustion!

Anyway, nothing sewing related today. My mum is bringing me her sewing machine and Overlocker over later this afternoon so that I can make my sister a few fitted nappies for her new bub. :)

So hopefully the sewing withdrawal ends tonight! haha. Im also going to make apricont chicken for dinner tonight. I might make it in the oven soooooo delicious!!!!!

Until tomorrow...
