Lazy Day

Today I have lots of things I should be doing but I can't be bothered. I would much prefer to laze around watching tv, surf the net, cuddle my kids and drink hot drinks...




Miss 6yo is proactive enough to be doing her homework. I've done 2 loads of washing and I am sitting looking at fabric from across the room.










I'm also starting to read Martha Stewart's book called "The Martha Rules" I figure I can learn a lot from her!

So maybe I'm not so lazy for not sewing or doing my book work!

Oh so Green and Spotty

I made some of these up last year but never got around to posting them on the website, so as of today they are available to purchase online.

I am in love with this fabric. It is so soft, so fluffy and absolutely gorgeous. 

These nappies are available in both the All In One & All In Two styles and all 3 of the WeePantz Sizes.

The inside of these nappies is made from microfleece, absolutely soft and droolworthy, as well as keeping your bub dry after they wet. And we have the usual WeePantz absorbency sewn into them!

Tuesday...

So today is Tuesday... or if you ask the wiggles, it is Taco Day (yes, I watch far too much wiggles with my son). I have been working on orders and also getting ready for the market all whilst looking after my beautiful kids who seem to know when I get up super early to be without them and sew in peace and get up at the same time to bug me!!

I've been playing with some of this beautiful red minky, it is so so soft and delicious!! I want to play with it all the time!!

On the weekend, I also took the kids in to the shops to visit the man himself... SANTA!!

At this point, he was receiving strict instructions to bring trucks and a DS for Christmas. Very important stuff here. 

And then after the formalities were over, the kids both gave him a cuddle. This is the first time Oliver has actually met Santa without screaming his head off so I was pretty proud. He might actually enjoy all those presents this year, although wrapping paper is such a fantastic toy!!

I have almost finished Ruthie's Christmas dress too! very excited about this as it is just gorgeous, I will hopefully finish it off tomorrow as we have school christmas carols tomorrow night!! So I will post pics then!

Market Prep Day...

Today is my final day of prep for the Fairy Floss Market in Doncaster tomorrow, so I am madly racing around between the many jobs I need to finish. 

I have sewn together a bunch of AI2 shells and am currently overlocking the soaker pads. I am amazed at how much quicker it is to make an AI2 nappy, I definitely would be packing it if I had all AIO's to make before tomorrow!!

I am also racing back and forth from the fabric shelf... surely I can throw together one more designer combination before tomorrow right?? right???

We will see, I want to do some more unisex nappies as I feel like everything is pretty much girl or boy orientated.

Anyway, must get back to work, lots to do! lots to do! Make sure you head into the market tomorrow and have a look around, there are just the most beautiful products at this market, if anything, I just love going there to drool!!

Sew Up Wednesday

Today is Sew Up Wednesday. So I am currently TRYING to sew some things up! But right now I'm still cutting.  Does anyone else just get sick of cutting? I have cut for the entire day today, soakers, microfleece, PUL for under Minky and I'm about to cut into some more of the cotton from the other day.

The best part of my day today was heading into Spotlight. Desperate need for more boy fabric... again... And was horrified to not find the clearance bin where it was the other day to get some more of this fabric...

I reached desperation point, cursing myself for not getting more of it last week, and eventually chose a different print that I really wasn't happy with. I was on my way to pay for the other fabrics in my hand and then I SAW IT!! Hidden underneath some random poplin on a shelf nowhere near where it should have been. (Do you think someone else was trying to hide it?) And I snapped up the last 2 meters. Now I have plenty to do some cute little things with and it was still $5 per meter. 

What a wonderful day. Now how to get these children to eat their dinner and go to bed... ARGH!! 

My Creative Space

Okay so I missed another day... more RNW things to do yesterday, but relax everyone, I am back, I am done with RNW for this year :-)

Today in my Creative Space I have been cutting, pinning, sewing, ironing, washing and buying fabric for bibs and nappies ahead of Saturday and Sunday. (yes, I realise i am completely crazy organising 2 markets for a weekend, but alas, I thought one of the markets was last week and miscalculated my dates... eek!! All is good, I have done this before, and will most likely be crazy and do this again,..

So I bought this fabric today (along with some blue stary fabric) for bibs. I woke up this morning, started organising my work space for the day before breakfast and the school run occurred, and then realised something horrid. I only had about 20 bibs!! now when you generally sell out of bibs in every market you 20 is simply just not enough for 2 markets! So off I trundled to Spotlight. The middle fabric is Michael Miller (from the discounted $5 bin). At least I am assuming it is Michael Miller, It had MMF in the selvage.

I also finally cut into some of this...

Some of these lovely boyish fishies will be gracing my products too. :)

Anyway, off to tend to children, dinner and baths and bed to do. And then more sewing!!

Ahh A Day off...

Well.. today is SUPPOSED to be my day off. I have to clean the house, the sewing monster in me has ignored the cleaning for far too long and it has become quite a mess! I have some great ideas floating around in my little head for some new nappies and have some fabric arriving today so that I will have enough microfleece and bamboo to make them! I have also worn out yet another dye set on my snap press! I must be making alot more nappies this year than I was last year!

Anyway... so today is cleaning day. We wont call it a day off, because really, cleaning isnt fun, and days off are supposed to be fun! Tomorrow I am heading into Brunswick to the ANN meet that we have monthly there. Lots of lovely clothies getting together, we have a coffee (or tea etc) and a snack and the kids play. We have a small discussion about a chosen topic and then generally try to coax our children into leaving the miriad of toys that are there. It is great, and all are welcome!

I saw a poster for it on my way back from the market yesterday (which we got blown away from by the way!!) and I think I might check it out. :) They sell bamboo fabrics.. I wonder if they have fleece??!?? See I am having fabric dreams from the store before Ive been there!

Oh and good news... I have finished sequining one of the outfits for callisthenics. I am super excited about this! now to finish the rest of the costumes by August 22nd. EEK!!!!!

Anyway... better get back to my cleaning day... I hope you are all having a wonderful day too! :)

Fabric Shopping!

This morning at exactly 9am I waltzed into my local Spotlight store looking for fabric. Im not generally a 9am shopper, but due to that being just after I drop my darling daughter at school, it was easier to go then than to make more than one trip, also... Spotlight is next to my local supermarket and I desperately needed milk, bread and most importantly... cat food (or my cat might just trip me up when I'm walking out of the door.)

Anyway, I should make 9am my regular spotlight calling time as there was no one about and I had so much space to just dawdle through the aisles. I was, however on a budget and had specific things I had to buy so not much browsing for me this morning! 

I did walk away with a couple of meters of cotton print and flannel for bibs and wipes.

I realised at the counter that yes, they are all similar colours, but I don't have much stuff in these colours so I thought... ahh no big deal!

I also picked up some toweling for bib backing which I didnt really think you all needed to view. But the prints on these fabrics are just so cute!! I love the dinosaurs and the catterpillars. The apples I think would go well with some other fabrics I have seen around which I am very much coveting. 

The other thing I bought was some heat and bond ultra iron adhesive for some appliqué which I am working on for nappies. I bought it because I'm not a massive fan of viesofix. It isn't really my friend, and I hate it how the sticky side peels off when you don't use it quick enough, I want to be able to pick up my stuff after its been sitting there a fortnight and it still works. I also have some spray on adhesive which I have used a few times, but the fumes are a killer!

Anyway... has anyone else ever used the heat and bond? or is there something better that I can get my hands on??

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

Well what a lovely morning! I awoke to a lovely man (that would be my partner) saying happy birthday, Im off to work. And shortly followed by Olly giggling through the baby monitor and Ruth going in to play with him. So a few extra moments peace. what a lovely present!!

I recieved some fabric from my lovely mother in law which I will use to make some little explorer overalls for Olly! :-) I will photograph it later and add the photos to ths post :-)

Op Shopping Wonderness!

I went to the local Vinnies today to have a look at what they had in ways of shirts that I could convert into tops for me. I walked out with much more as they had some great things there!! I could have bought oh so much more but I thought Id best leave that to another day.

The stash I got from vinnies. Theres 3 shirts that I will be turning into tops for me and 2 pillow cases that I thought were cool.

Sewing patterns.

A kids yarn and knitting book.

A dressmaking book. Its pretty old school but Im sure I will learn something. The basics cant have changed that much!

Some Disney books. There were heaps, I will be going back for more!

So a pretty awesome stash. I am off to make a top now! (Well after dinner is cooked of course!)

Fabric Fabric Fabric...

Hmm well I was possibly naughty today and went to the local sewing centre who has had a fabric sale on lately. I found some beautiful fabrics (most of which weren't on special) and bought 3. They are all most likely destined to be clothes for miss Ruth. But I would also like to use some of the flower one on a nappy as well :)
